May God assist the family as it goes through this tough time. With the Holiday Season coming, I hope that the Department remembers the family as they all will be suffering through it. Another dedicated Law Enforcement Officer's life is taken by another's action. My prayers go with the the Officer and his family.

SGT SIMPSON'S TRAGEDY
I would like to express my sympathy, sincerest and deepest condolences to the Sgt. Simpson's family. Knowing that Sgt. Simpson's career and devotion to duty, reflects the same honor and faithful service of many good law enforcement officers out there, that have always found themselves in harms way. Is an Irony, that after so many years of service he paid the ultimate sacrifice to our country and his family. I only served as a Coast Guard Police Officer for four years, and I can assure you, that being a Police Officer is not an easy job but a challenging one. This job places you in a battlefield with lots of unexpected surprises. What I have learned in FLETC about Officer Survival was that in the line of duty we need not fear for our life. Nevertheless, traffic stops and positioning your squad car in a tactical shield of protection, does not necessarily guarantee that someone or something will never hit you. Either by a sleepy driver or by a low life drunk on the wheel. On July 2002 and at about 0505 hours, I was going Southbound Cranbury New Jersey, when a fallen asleep driver rear-ended my vehicle. That was not my day, and I thank my God for giving me a chance to live another day. May Sgt. Simpson's soul rest in peace, and may the Lord add him to his Army of Angel Cops!

My condolences to the Simpson family...and to the Philadelphia officers. What loss, tragedy, and.. irony.
In time, may the greater positive of his life, his joy, the reward he felt as a family man and officer lead you to a beginning of comfort and peace, in time. With deepest sympathy. Rest In Peace, Officer Simpson

I am so sorry for the pain these families have to experience because of the immaturity and irresponsible actions of another. Not to mention the fallen police would all rather be alive and with their families. People, wake up and grow up. If you are drinking, DON'T DRIVE!! My grandfather was also killed in a horrific car accident. 3 blocks from his home!!!!

Rest In Peace Sgt. Simpson, another senseless death at the hands of an individual that should have been locked away years ago. Please remember the Officer and his family as we approach the holiday season, it will be very hard on them and his fellow officers.

"Fallen Officer"
My condolences and prayers go out to the family of the fallen Sgt. Timothy Simpson, it's tough to lose a father, brother, son, but keep them in your dreams and thoughts, not in your hour of mourning, mourning is a symbol that they are gone, but they're not as long as you remember them, if you do then they will never be gone from your life.

He was charged with vehicular homicide while driving under the influence, third-degree murder, drug offenses and related counts. and this man who has made his entire life a criminal act will most likely walk free before he dies because no matter how hard we try stop them they always seem to get out and go right back to the life of crime they lived before. Unlike our brother officer who has lived one free day after choosing to wear the badge. HE had to live his life as a servant to any one who called him for help and he did it all because he loved the JOB. I am proud to call This sergeant, This officer, This son, This Father and servant My Brother in Blue. Rest in peace my brother God our Father knows you served your time in HELL.

God Bless All Who Wear the Shield

Officer Down
Well, I feel for the family but was he really in the right or not? The report says that they assume that this officer had a green light but not sure. I've seen officers run a traffic signal just to get attention. But only God knows what really happened here now.
As for the dope pusher, throw the book at him because he had no business on the road under the influence.

CONFUSION
VERY TRAGIC - WE PRAY FOR OFFICER SIMPSON AND HIS FAMILY.
I AM CONFUSED - AT THE START OF THE ARTICLE - IT STATES THAT THE SUSPECT BROADSIDED SERGEANT
SIMPSON'S PATROL VEHICLE. THEN A COUPLE PARAGRAPHS DOWN IT SAYS THAT THE SUSPECT RAN A STOP LIGHT AND RAN INTO THE REAR OF SERGEANT SIMPSON'S PATROL VEHICLE.
