I know that the DEA does not do "Hard entries" anymore I think its a fed rule for all fed agencies since the Waco,Texas incident. I have served warrants with the DEA on a drug dealer and they just knocked and had our swat team around the house. We sat out there for 30 mins while they spoke with the guy through a window asking him to open the door and turn himself in. This is a guy that had been arrested for murder and gun charges in the past. I dont know what the FBI policy is or how this incident went down BUT if it was like i describe they NEED to change their policy.

LEO KIA
Man I am tired of all these front line people getting shot, killed, motorcycle accidents, drunk drivers, etc. I know its part of the job but it seems like these days the good guys lives arn't worth a plug nickel. I wish the tide would turn but I fear the worst. It just seems to get worse every day. Sorry you guys...

I agree with you Mark, it's getting worse. It's time to establish a "point" system for felons much like that for driver's license. Once you reach the max, it's death row for the POS.

FBI Agent Killed
I'm sorry he was killed, but the article did not make it clear as to who shot this agent. About a year and a half ago at the other end of the state a FBI Agent killed his partner - a fellow FBI agent - with a high powered rifle by shooting him in the head at point blank range.
Until details are announced I would not rule out FBI fratricide [again].

My deepest condolences to the Hicks Family. I am sure he was so proud to have been in law enforcement, as a special agent. His commitment, and his youth will not be forgotten.

The first words out of my mouth as I read the first sentence of the article were Noooooooo, not again, as my eyes watered. It had nothing to do with the FBI or any specific agency at any level. In addition, I cannot appreciate or support more all the efforts by all LE agencies. But, I keep also having the repeated, silent frustration when I read...similar Officer down articles .
The basic WHAT AND WHY each step is taking place and why each additional step is taking place, while a warrant is being served, while a place is being raided after months of investigation seem at times to be mixed with a few unnoticeable things that inevitably leads to LEA injury or death. I am absolutely not talking about or including active shooter situations in my comments. It appears to me that often times in these LE tragedies, the bottom line comes down to the basics the basics the basics which every LE instructor I have every met constantly drills: no operation is routine; practice patience and logic, (why not wait till he drove out for water or food); on the location follow the wall (everybody on the same sentence on the same page), know your men, know your cover, back up, backup, backup

If a guy is part of violent organization..If a criminal guy is on a street with only seven houses--wasnt it logical the location was going to be booby-trapped or something-- 365 days a year for decades to come. Neutral territory......or the basics covered essential.
Agent Hicks, I have faith your loss was not in vain. Changes happen; no one needs to know about them but the men who are implementing them and making sure everybody practices them because of the difficult, tragic lessons learned. Wanting a better world with less violent criminals--one by one--getting them off the streets controls; Officer safety...and the basics needs to, too.

RIP Agent Hicks.

How do you get a concealed carry permit when you live with a convicted felon.

FBI agent killed in Pennsylvania
I wanted to comment on the tragic loss of a fellow lawenforcement brother. First I agree with Chuck from Georgia, about waiting to see if the agent wasn't killed by friendly gunfire. The DEA story relayed by Narco reminds me of the Chicago Policer who just passed away two weeks ago, from being shot over three years ago by a violent bank robber, by possing as a pizza delivery man at the suspects' apartment. I just personally feel that when any lawenfoecement agency is attempting to apprehend a violent felon that all the trickery tactics and conversation should be thrown out the window and the suspect should be hit hard and taken down immediately, to avoid officer injuries or deaths.

I was asking the same question. Insane, it is! The wife must has a second address for her permit ? OR better yet, she gets to have it in the house with Korbe because Antoinetter-mother-in-law is a threat to them??? Ugh!
It sure will be good to hear more historical and future facts to this case. It is so sad..and maddening at the same time.
