Michigan Police Nab One of Virginia's 'Most Wanted'

EASTPOINTE, Mich. --

One of Virginia's "Most Wanted" criminals was arrested in Michigan Saturday.

Eastpointe police said Lamont Banks was pulled over for speeding and weaving in a lane at about 3:30 a.m. near Beaconsfield Avenue and Toepfer Drive.

Police said Banks jumped out of the car and led the officer on a foot chase through several neighborhoods before being brought town with a Taser. But police said he continued to fight the officer and managed to run through several more yards before being cuffed by additional officers.

One officer suffered a cut to the palm of his hand during the struggle, police said.

Background checks revealed Banks was listed as "Most Wanted" by Newport News authorities in Virginia for murder, use of firearms and as a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Easpointe police charged Banks with resisting and obstructing a police officer, causing injury.

His cash bond was set at $25,000.

Ok, so the guy is wanted for murder, possession of firearms by a felon, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, gets stopped, leads officers in a foot pursuit, causing injury to an officer and some moron judge gives him a $25,000 bond?

That's the kind of liberal BS we all better be getting used to thanks to the election results. I thought we had some liberal magistrates and judges here in Virginia. I've had people held without bond for trespassing here in VA, much less the phonebook of stuff he has hanging over him.

Hopefully the scum bag will get the needle when he comes back to Virginia.

Another example of the fallability of the Taser. I'm glad it was used, and it apparently helped, but it didn't solve the problem. Just like it didn't solve everything with Rodney King.

One problem is the 'Fleeing Felon' act that was repealed by 'Tennesee V. Garner' in 1967 that prohibited deadly physical force on fleeing felons. Maybe this needs to be revisited.

Another problem is the lawsuits against police officers for use of force. The laws need to be changed to back up our officers and allow them to use force without fear of losing their job and being arrested.

The other problem is judges who set bail for serious crimes, and are not held accountable for their actions.

Actually bond is an assurance of someone's return to court proceedings, it has nothing to do with innocence or guilt. In Nebraska a $25,000.00 bond is average for the fresh charges from the vehicle stop and its follow up stupidity. However the arrest warrant bond would be much higher, actually more like a "No Bond" warrant because the issuing state/county is coming for him.

So in essence no, he doesn't post $2,500.00 in cash and walk away. That's the bond for the charges in Michigan. Even if someone did have that cash he still wouldn't get out because of the hold on the Virgina warrant.

Come on guys seriously?
