COVINGTON, Ky. --

Officers arrested a fugitive Thursday after he escaped the day before from police custody in Gallatin County.

Authorities said 19-year-old Joshua Pickett Jr. attempted to assault a police officer as he was being transported from Kenton County.

He managed to escape, and despite multiple reports placing Pickett in Warsaw, police arrested him in Covington.

Pickett, who was originally taken into custody after police said he broke into a house, will be taken back to Gallatin County.
