I don't know much about the department, but they do get their share of bad publicity.

If you have PC why can't you search? Unless they searched without it. This story doesn't make sense. The rookie shouldn't bear the brunt of penalty. The senior officer ordered her to search the suspect for what ever reason he had. So he should shoulder most if not all of the responsiblity.

Each of us is responsible for our own actions. Alfred had already made several bad calls on the job, and never showed the mental capacity to think for herself out on the street. She should have said "no" loud and clear to her commanding officer. Now, she has to accept the consequences for her behavior. Don't feel too sorry for her--she's hurt a lot of people in this case and others.

Bad publicity
I'm a former public servant of Marysville. Rich stated it appears the agency gets its sharer of bad publicity. The problem is, Rich, the media gives all agencies bad publicity as controversy sells and draws public attention. When we catch the bad guys or get hurt on the job, the media considers it part of our duties and are thankless. But let the slightest bit of controversy arise and watch it become the top story until it blows over.
does anyone know if the suspect was found to be in possession of illegal contraband, charged, or arrested? Alot of unanswered questions. I don't know the entire story of this rookie officer but it outwardly appears the media forced the issue causing a knee jerk reaction to not only halt her early career but also give her time to serve as well. I wish her well.
