Memphis Officers Injured After Riots Break Out After Fatal Police-Involved Shooting

Officers were injured after a riot broke out following a police-involved shooting Wednesday.

MEMPHIS -- Several officers were injured after a riot broke out following a police-involved shooting Wednesday evening.

Members of the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force and the U.S. Marshal Service responded to the 2000 block of Durham in the Frayser neighborhood around 7 p.m. when the shooting occured, according to WATN-TV.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation identified the man shot and killed by law enforcement as 20-year-old Brandon Webber.

Preliminary information indicated, that multiple officers with the U.S. Marshal Service located Webber -- who was wanted on multiple warrants -- at the home on Durham as he was entering a vehicle. As they attempted to stop him, Webber rammed his vehicle into the vehicles of officers before pulling a weapon. The officers opened fire, fatally wounding Webber.

The Memphis Police Department was asked by the U.S. Marshal Service to assist and the shooting scene.

During that time, crowds of people gathered and riots broke out, leading to officers suffering injuries from rocks and bricks being thrown at them.

All of the injured officers are expected to be OK.
