Newly released dashboard camera video shows the tense moments between Little Rock police officers and an armed man during a standoff last month.

The incident began after investigators say 43-year-old Farris Deloney fired a shot in the parking lot of a Walmart and took his 1-year-old daughter on Dec. 19, according to KLRT-TV.

Responding police officers saw Deloney's SUV and began pursuing it. The armed man then stops at the Crystal Hill Road exit of I-430 in North Little Rock.

Officer Brittany Godfrey said she was on patrol when the call went out, and that things escalated quickly.

"Come on, don't do this with your baby right there. It's going to be ok," Godfrey can be heard in the dashcam footage pleading with Deloney. At that point, she knew she had to rescue the girl.

Godfrey can be seen in the video running up to the SUV, with barely any protection.

"We talked. I talked to him while I was trying to get her out and he said 'I don't want to hurt her, I don't want to hurt you'. It was all between him, it was all fighting his demons," she said.

Seconds later in the dashcam footage, a little girl in a pink jacket and white hat is taken to safety by an officer.

At this point, officers turned their focus on helping Deloney.

"Getting him out safely and getting him the help that he needed that day," Godfrey said.

Next thing that happened was Deloney surrendering as officers can be heard telling the father to put his hands in the air.

Deloney is charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a minor.
