THORNTON, Colorado -- The man wanted for fatally shooting three people at the entrance of a Walmart in suburban Denver was arrested Thursday morning after a massive manhunt, cops said.
Scott Ostrem was taken into custody at about 8 a.m. local time near Thornton, Colo., after police surrounded his red Mitsubishi Mirage. Authorities had identified him as the suspect less than two hours earlier.
Roughly 12 hours earlier Ostrem, 47, coolly walked into the superstore, shooting two men and one woman.
Police indicated the incident was random. Ostrem, described as wearing a red shirt and blue jeans, then fled the store in his car.
The men died at the Walmart and the woman later passed at the hospital.
Police scoured the area over the following hours, issuing a nationwide extradition warrant for him.
Thornton police plan to hold a press conference at 9 a.m. local time to address the situation.
