TORQ Defense System's new rapid response, light tactical explosive ordnance disposal electric vehicle for use by US law enforcement agencies, the swift and silent multi-terrain LTEV, was developed to further enhance the readiness of America’s law enforcement and first responders. The LTEV enables a fully suited EOD technician to rapidly deploy down range while easily transporting all the tools deemed necessary to identify, diagnose, and disrupt suspected or real explosive devices. The high-torque LTEV’s rugged design and unique off-road capabilities deliver light tactical mobility in often complex, high-threat, high density urban areas.
Specialized equipment transport capabilities have been incorporated within the vehicle’s modular frame design to accept mission-critical EOD tools including PAN Disruptor, Hot Stick or Telescopic Manipulator, X-ray Generator, Digital Imaging Film, Large Rigging Kit, Detonator Containment Unit, HAL Kit and more. Dual spindle arms on the rear of each vehicle can accommodate 2,500 foot spools of ShockTube and Paracord. A large molded plastic rear storage bin has sufficient capacity for Portable Digital X-ray System and other incident specific tools deemed necessary to execute a render safe procedure.
With a top speed of 30 mph, the LTEV features an overhead operator protection system, fully independent front and rear suspension, all-wheel hydraulic disc brakes, 18HP electric AC brushless motor by Advanced Motor & Drives, 450 Amp Curtis motor controller, 48-Volt AGM battery bank and quick-release steering wheel. The on-board charging system easily plugs in to any standard 110 electrical outlet and the vehicle has a continuous run-time of three (3) hours.
Standard features on all LTEV’s include a 1/2 inch Lexan Polycarbonate Windshield, FireBottle-500 “in-cabin” FE36 fire suppression system, detachable dry chemical fire extinguisher (3A:40B:C), STRYKER 350,000 candela articulated LED spot light and a 1.5 ton winch,
For flat terrain incident response, the vehicle can also be equipped to receive, tow and rapidly deploy a large vehicle bomb countermeasure system, allowing for dash mounted quick release and parking brake engagement of the LVBC system. The LTEV can be re-configured to serve specific agency needs including US Customs and Border Protection, HAZMAT, SWAT, Search and Rescue, FAA, Airport Security and more.
