Now, with Plano’s release of the new 1312, 1712 and 1612 X2 Range Bags, the venerable 1312, 1712 and 1612 Ammo Boxes are available with a full tactical exterior treatment to compliment and build upon their industrious cores.
Available in three sizes and configurations, Plano’s new X2 Range Bags consist of a traditional Plano Ammo Box cradled in a removable form-fitting shell of ballistic Nylon with enough specialized pockets and pouches to hold all your critical range gear and supplies. The tops of the boxes remain exposed for easy access to their contents and heavy-duty carry handles. A fully-adjustable padded shoulder strap completes the package. The larger 1712 and 1612 models even come complete with a separate molded pistol case, which each holds in its perfectly-sized front pocket.
Plano’s new X2 Range Bags are extremely versatile, thanks to their innovative modular designs centered on America’s favorite ammo boxes. The millions of shooters who already use Plano 1312, 1712 or 1612 Ammo Boxes to store different calibers of ammunition can quickly load their X2 Range Bags with the boxes containing the specific ammo or supplies for the firearms they plan to shoot on any given trip to the range.
The smallest in the X2 family, the 1312 X2 Range Bag is designed to be the perfect range companion for the concealed carry handgun enthusiast, carrying a medium frame pistol inside the large front zippered pocket. The bag’s creative back pocket provides additional storage and folds out to serve as a padded gun mat on the bench. Large multi-purpose pockets flank each end of the 1312 X2 Range bag – one fully zippered and the other with a Velcro flap – providing ample storage for shooting accessories, tools, or personal protective gear. The outside of the large front pistol pocket is adorned with three specialized magazine pockets.

Roughly 2 inches longer, 2 inches wider and an inch-and-a-half deeper than the 1312, the 1712 X2 Range Bag provides additional space for ammunition, accessories and supplies, and comes complete with a separate Plano Model 140300 Pistol Case, which accepts one large handgun or two smaller handguns and fits neatly inside the bag’s dedicated front pistol case sleeve. Other adaptable storage space is found in the 1712 X2’s large right side pocket and expansive mesh back pocket. Two specialized magazine pockets are provided on the bag’s left side.

The most spacious model in the family, Plano’s new 1612 X2 Range Bag is built around the company’s 1612 Deep Ammo Box, which features a lift out tray for increased organizational versatility and additional top-access storage space built into the lid. Like the medium sized 1712 X2 Range Bag, the larger 1612 X2 Range Bag also comes with a separate pistol case. The larger Plano Model 1010137 Special Edition Scoped Pistol Case provided with the 1612 X2 fits a single large scoped handgun or two unscoped handguns, and stows neatly inside the 1612 X2’s fitted front pocket. A cavernous 85-cubic-inch right-side pocket and spacious mesh back pocket provide additional storage for tools, targets, shooting accessories or other items, while two dedicated magazine pockets are located on the left end of the bag.
