DHS 7000 CBRN Respirator Hybrid System

July 9, 2012
Engineered for ultimate protection in a variety of hazardous environments, innovative modular unit reduces cost of ownership by supporting APR, PAPR and SCBA applications.

Dräger announced the DHS 7000 hybrid system, an innovative respirator that uses Dräger’s  breathing technology to ensure the purity of breathing air. Ideal for use in military, law enforcement, and responder applications.

High versatility supports CBRN and long-duration missions

The DHS 7000 is ideal protection for personnel who face potential CBRN operations or long-duration missions. Based on the newly designed Dräger Hybrid Respirator (DHR) 7000, the Dräger DHS 7000 system can be used in three modes of operation with the same face piece: air purifying respirator (APR), powered air purifying respirator (PAPR), or self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). The mask works either in positive pressure mode as a SCBA or in negative pressure mode as an APR or PAPR. Switching between these modes is as simple as flipping a switch.

The fact that the DHS 7000 can be used as a CBRN gas mask, CBRN PAPR, or a CBRN SCBA means that the user only has to carry a single mask. It also means less time required for pre-op preparation and gear maintenance. Additionally, it is only necessary to purchase one mask for three modes, rather than a separate mask for each mode.

The DHR 7000 has a triple sealed edge, as well as an impact-resistant lens which provides a field of vision that is greater than 90 percent for optimal situational awareness.

The system offers a hydration device which can be connected to a canteen or a CamelBak. An optional communication system, the MS-COM, has a microphone that is inserted into the mask, an ear speaker for clear reception of messages, and a push-to-talk button that connects to the radio to ensure understanding of messages between teammates.

Field tested and standards based

To ensure the highest level of safety, system components have passed comprehensive National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) testing in accordance with NFPA 1981 (SCBA standard) and certified by the Safety Equipment Institute and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) CBRN. Additionally, the Dräger DHS 7000 breathing technology, C-420 Powered Air Purifying Respirator, and Dräger CAP 1 Canister are all field proven.
