Crime Point, Inc. introduced a multi-function IP video surveillance system engineered specifically for the diverse demands of covert police investigations.

Dubbed the HermitCam Trans-Former, the equipment features three specialized, plug-and-play disguises, allowing it to change appearance as quickly and easily as a superhero for three different deployment scenarios:  indoors, outdoors and from an unmanned drop vehicle.   The system is mounted on a compact slide-in frame with quick-connects for rapid swap-outs and deployment.

The company cites the system’s versatility as an important financial advantage for police agencies that may only be able to afford one camera system to meet a wide range of investigative needs.

Serving as an extra set of eyes on the street, the Trans-Former system further enhances limited agency resources by allowing officers to multi-task, checking on the camera as needed via smart phone or any other web-enabled device.  Connecting via Internet or local remote, investigators can control the camera’s pan, tilt and zoom and view live video as well as captured evidence, mobilizing immediately in response to urgent situations.

The Trans-Former features ruggedized, purpose-built components engineered to withstand the harsh environmental demands of unmanned, mobile police applications, including Sierra Wireless cellular broadband modem, Crime Point’s open architecture Flex Jr network DVR, and the company’s law enforcement-exclusive IP camera: the HermitCam. Like its namesake hermit crab, the newest generation camera is adaptable to a wide range of concealments and environmental conditions.  Available in two models – front-pivot and 360-degrees -- the all-metal HermitCam  features a virtual front-tilt point, creating a small 2 to 3 inch portal, allowing it to be hidden in a variety of covert enclosures.   All system components operate in temperatures from freezing to 140 degrees F, a wider range than most security devices.

Made in America, the HermitCam offers the same level of sophistication that police investigators experience with off-the-shelf IP security cameras manufactured overseas, including such features as draw-box, click-center and preset controls.   The cameras switch automatically from color to black-and-white for lower-light operations, and boast a powerful 35x optical zoom, for identifying faces, license plates and other details at a distance. Additionally, Crime Point has written specialized software that eliminates the necessity for administrative rights prior to access.

The Hermit Cam Trans-Former is one of a full line of covert and customizable video surveillance equipment manufactured and distributed specifically for police applications by Crime Point, including its IP Complete Surveillance Vehicle Technology.

A live HermitCam demo can be accessed by sworn law enforcement personnel with registration at the Crime Point website:  www.crimepoint.net
