FlexMod 48636 Electronic Timer

Feb. 25, 2011

Cole Hersee Company's FlexMod 48636 Electronic Timer for interior vehicle lighting was designed for use on any vehicle containing a cargo compartment. The FlexMod 48636 Electronic Timer unit automatically turns off interior lights, protecting starting batteries from being drained by leaving lights on for extended periods.

The FlexMod 48636 Electronic Timer is ideal for use in utility trucks, delivery trucks, Class 8 tractor-trailer trucks, off-road vehicles, mining and agricultural vehicles, ambulances, some fire trucks, mobile law enforcement incident units, and school bus fleets.

Superior to conventional mechanical “egg-timer” units, the FlexMod 48636 Electronic Timer is an electronic timer with integral warning feature.

To operate interior lights, the vehicle operator presses a momentary switch for up to 20 minutes of lighting, after which the unit offers a series of increasingly urgent warnings within the cargo compartment before the lights turn off, giving the driver the option to reset the unit for a further 20 minutes or exit the work area. FlexMod can be controlled from two switches, so one can be installed at the back of a compartment and one at the front.

The dual voltage timer works on 12-volt and 24-volt systems, so dealers can stock one unit for use in any vehicle. The unit features a compact design (4-inches by 3-inches by 1-inch), and is waterproof, dustproof, and vibration-proof. The FlexMod 48636 Electronic Timer can be mounted anywhere on a vehicle, even areas where road-splash is a problem. It is sealed to IP67 standard. It has no moving parts, which results in very high reliability.

The new FlexMod 48636 Electronic Timer is part of Cole Hersee’s family of electronic modules that preserve starting power so that the vehicle can always start. The switch family is ideal for those with fleets of emergency vehicles, delivery vehicles, boats, buses or utility trucks. The FlexMod LVD switches automatically shut down non-essential loads when the battery runs down. The FlexMod family has two inputs (one analog and one digital) and two solid state outputs (one 10A, one 200mA) that can be programmed to do almost any job.

Aside from the FlexMod 48636 Electronic Timer, several other standard units have been created to specific application needs, including the 48610 Electronic Low Voltage Disconnect which preserves battery charge and protects battery banks; the 48540 Smart Battery Isolator Controller, which monitors two battery banks and controls one or more relays or contactors; and the 48541 Electronic Voltage Sensing Relay & Timer, which monitors both battery voltage and ignition status, shutting down non-critical loads when the cutoff voltage is reached.
