Disaster Mental Health Intervention: Project P-FLASH

Essential Learning's Project P-FLASH stands for Practical Frontline Assistance and Support for Healing. This 6 credit hour course reviews available knowledge on mentalhealth effects of disaster survival from prior incidents of terrorism andprevious disasters. It discusses PTSD, its prevalence, diagnosis, co-morbidityand the associated risk factors. The authors address practical front-line skillsfor working with traumatized people in post-disaster settings. This course hasbeen funded and supported by The September 11th Fund through a contractwith Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. Theauthors are Dr. Carol North and Dr. Barry Hong from Washington Universityin St. Louis and Dr. Betty Pfefferbaum of the University of Oklahoma inOklahoma City. Accreditations include ANCC, APA, ASWB, CCB, LBP,NAADAC, NBCC, OCDP.
