Decatur Electronics' new Radar Rearview Mirror Display has innovated police traffic enforcement by safely placing radar display out of officer's way and in a heads-up position. Police traffic radar units since the late 1940s were often dash-mounted, interfering with officers' ability to observe activity outside a vehicle and hedging officer safety. Decatur's new mirror blends the radar display with the cab environment of the patrol car. The Decatur Radar Display Mirror takes speed information and places it on the face of the vehicle rear view mirror. The radar computing unit may be placed in some other out of the way location. The officer's attention is now out the windows of the patrol car, and a simple shift of the eyes towards the rear view mirror reveals traffic speed information. Moreover, the officer can immediately determine mode of operation, range settings, and selected antenna through a series of indicator lights at the base of the mirror. The Rear View Mirror Display is an innovative breakthrough in which technology gives police a more efficient, and safer way to promote traffic safety.
