Compact Damage Tolerant Life Preserver

July 30, 2008

The Compact Damage Tolerant Life Preserver (DTLP) features a low-profile, ergonomic design that easily integrates with any tactical vest or armor plate carrier using Pouch Attachment Ladder System (PALS) webbing on Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment (MOLLE) vests. The quick-release tabs allow for fast donning and doffing while the wide neck allows maximum mobility for aviation users wearing helmets. Should an officer end up in the water during a tactical mission the Compact DTLP will automatically inflate (MD4030) or can be activated by pulling the beaded handles on the manual version (MD4035). Using two inflatable cells on opposite sides, the personal flotation device (PFD) can withstand a direct hit on one side and the opposite side will still function. With both cells inflated more than 65 pounds of buoyancy is provided, while a single cell provides 35. A black restraint layer over the cells helps avoid detection. Both models are equipped with Kevlar Ballistic Cylinder Pouches that will prevent the CO2 cylinders from becoming projectiles in the event they are penetrated by small arms fire or fragmentation.
