PulseStar is a rugged, water-resistant reader of Dallas Semiconductor's iButtons. Upon successfully reading the button's ID number, the PulseStar data collector from Videx Inc. gives a vibrating pulse rather than an audio tone. (The iButton can represent a person, a location, an item or even an action.) PulseStar is ideal for demanding applications such as security guard tour tracking, jail cell checks and inmate tracking in correctional institutions. With PulseStar, there are no beeper or LED openings in the case, allowing it to be completely sealed. Housed in a metal case and sealed with "O" rings, the internal components are protected against possible shock damage associated with repetitive drops.
