The line of AirLite SC handguns from Smith ' Wesson utilize a rare earth element called scandium. A small amount of scandium, when mixed with an aluminum alloy, results in an alloy that is extremely strong and lightweight. The Model 340PD is made with a scandium alloy frame, barrel shroud and yoke. The cylinder is made of titanium and the barrel liner is stainless steel. the 340PD weighs only 12 ounces. Chambered for .357 Magnum or .38 S'W Special +P, it holds five rounds. With a 1 7/8-inch barrel, internal hammer, fixed sights and Hogue Bantam Grips this revolver is an ideal back-up, plain clothes or undercover handgun. The Model 340PD comes with a durable black finish and high-visibility, light gathering, front sight.
