DEFENSE ID scans and checks against over 140 databases to validate a person's identification. The system works with existing military and government ID cards, such as drivers' licenses and passports, and therefore requires no need to issue or create a special ID card, a major cost savings. DEFENSE ID assists officers by quickly checking scanned ID information against with live "Persons-of-Interest" database lists. DEFENSE ID is a ruggedized handheld device that withstands being dropped, severe cold or hot temperatures and has a battery span of over 8 hours without being in its cradle. The device also has photo capturing capabilities. Integration of the system can be rolled out within a day to support both anti-terrorism and law enforcement needs. Training is simple and fast, and officers can be using the system within minutes.
