Matthews Specialty Vehicles delivers their newest BAT (Breath Alcohol Testing) Mobile to the Massachusetts State Police. The vehicle was designed as a turn-key processing area of drunk drivers, from initial arrest straight through the prisoner processing phases. It operates off of a 24 kilowatt generator that provides power to the entire unit while on scene. Technology such as an exterior mast mounted surveillance camera and telescopic lights allow for constant monitoring of checkpoint activities. Arrestees can be brought into the vehicle where breath alcohol testing or drug recognition exams can be conducted. Once placed under arrest, the vehicle houses a booking desk with mug shot board and two holding cells for securing arrestees.
