SUPER TALON - 2006 Innovation Awards Winner: Weapons

Advanced Weapons Technology's SUPER TALON net gun system provides police departments with a non-lethal response to very lethal situations. The SUPER TALON system allows officers to fire under highly compressed air a 16-square-foot Kevlar/nylon net at the rate of more than 15 feet per second. The net snares a suspect up to 40 feet away in a web of indestructible Kevlar and nylon, and immobilizes him without the need for physical contact between the officer and the perpetrator. SUPER TALON allows a single officer to dominate a scene and provides a solution that defies the temptation of a perpetrator to take advantage of size or gender to affect an escape. Now officers can engage multiple perpetrators of any size without resorting to hand-to-hand combat and subdue uncontrollable persons who might be resistant to other non-lethal forms of submission due to drug or alcohol involvement.
