Six law enforcement programs honored for style and comfort on the job

ORLANDO, Fla.- April 14, 2015 – The votes are in! The North American Association of Uniform Manufacturers & Distributors (NAUMD) announced the six winners of its 2015 Best Dressed Public Safety Awards program. Developed to recognize the vital role uniforms play in law enforcement and public safety, the awards honor both the departments and suppliers of the uniform program.

“Whether for protection or identification, apparel designs play an increasingly important role in keeping both public safety officials and the public safe,” said Richard J. Lerman, President and CEO of the NAUMD. “In order to be the best, you must look and feel the best. This award recognizes innovative designs and technologies that help ensure the comfort of police, fire and other first-responder public safety officials.”

The Best Dressed Public Safety Awards program emphasizes the high value of professional, neat, well-fitted and immediately identifiable uniforms in the vitally important role of public safety and law enforcement. The award showcases the dedication of the industry’s uniform professionals to designing and manufacturing the most comfortable, safe and versatile set of apparel possible required to meet the exacting standards of today’s law enforcement professionals.

Selected by a panel of independent judges composed of professionals in media, education and police chiefs, the winners will be recognized this evening during the NAUMD Awards Dinner as part of the NAUMD’s 2015 “Building Inspiration” Convention & Exposition at the Renaissance Orlando at Sea World in Orlando.

Winners of the 2015 NAUMD Best Dressed Public Safety Awards:

Departments with Less Than 50 Officers: Upper Providence Township Police Department in Phoenixville, Penn. by Red the Uniform Tailor

Upper Providence Township Police Department wanted to replace its antiquated uniform with a sharp, professional looking uniform that projected to the community a top-rate police organization by appearance. Designed by Red the Tailor, the new uniform includes Air Force blue hats and shirts, and a leather cross strap to help achieve their goal of a professional look.

Departments with 51-100 Officers: Wylie Police Department in Wylie, TX by Red the Uniform Tailor

In 2014 Red the Uniform Tailor did a complete uniform overhaul for the Wylie Police Department. Every officer was issued a new uniform to bring the department into consistency. The new uniform demands respect and is the epitome of command presence.

Departments with 251-750 Officers: Lincoln Police Department in Lincoln, Neb. by Alamar Uniforms

The Lincoln uniform committee wanted to provide a functional, comfortable uniform that projects confidence and professionalism. The uniform features a Freedom Flex waistband in trouser, a Freedom shirt collar and permanent super crease in both.

Departments with 751-1,000 Officers: Orlando Florida Police Department in Orlando, Fla. by VF Imagewear

The Orlando Police Department selected the fabric for its new uniforms based on its appearance, functionality, ease of care and durability. Special teams are identified by the color, style and customization of their uniform. To ensure officers maintain a professional look at all times, the department also requires traditional creases on its shirts and trousers.

Sheriff’s Office: Northampton County Sheriff Department in Easton, Penn. by Red the Uniform Tailor.

Northampton County wanted to create a uniform that was more functional and user friendly than the traditional uniform. The uniform committee implemented a uniform consisting of a contrasting shirt and trouser to differentiate Northampton from neighboring police departments. The uniforms are custom measured and made to help the senior officers look their professional best.

Marshall Service: Hartford Connecticut Judicial Marshal Services in Hartford, Conn. by Cintas

Hartford Connecticut Judicial Marshal Service worked with Cintas to re-design its entire uniform for a more classic and professional level law enforcement look. Featuring a better tailored-look fit, form, and function than the old uniforms, the new uniforms include custom Heather Grey shirts to set the Marshals apart from other departments.

Now in its 38th year...

The NAUMD Best Dressed Public Safety Awards is open to all NAUMD member distributors, manufacturers and public safety departments across North America.
