CRKT is deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend, renowned knife designer, Edward ‘Big Daddy K.I.S.S.’ Halligan. Ed had been the second noted knifemaker to join the CRKT family when we released the iconic K.I.S.S.® (Keep It Super Simple) in 1998.Ed’s K.I.S.S.® knife, and its subsequent variations, has been an essential part of the CRKT line up since its first introduction. His designs have been exceptionally popular globally with knife enthusiasts and his K.I.S.S.® won ‘Imported Knife of the Year’ at Blade Show in 1998. His most recent design, the Sweet K.I.S.S.®, was introduced earlier this year at the 2014 SHOT Show.Ed’s passion for knifemaking and his zest for life were an inspiration to all. He will be profoundly missed. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1953-1957 as an aircraft mechanic. He also worked for Delta Airlines for 37 years. He founded Halligan and Son Knives in 1985. In 1990, he became a member of the International Knifemaker’s Guild and the American Bladesmiths Society in 1992. In 1996 he received the Mastersmith rating in the American Bladesmiths Society and was the recipient of the B.R. Hughes award for Best Knife by a Mastersmith.Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on November 22, 2014 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia under the direction of Gamble Funeral Service of Savannah.
