Image Sensing Systems to Unveil Breakthrough Software at IACP

Integrates with innovative LPR technology to collect, synthesize and analyze data in real time.

Saint Paul, Minn., October 9, 2013 - Image Sensing Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: ISNS) will preview its innovative data analytics software, CitySync Safety, at the International Association of Police Chiefs Conference, which begins October 20 in Philadelphia. The breakthrough back office solution automatically turns data collected from license plate recognition (LPR) technology into crisply analyzed information, enabling investigators to quickly get the critical evidence they need to move from crime to conviction faster.

“A vast majority of crimes are committed using vehicles – and with this integrated technology, we essentially take the car out of crime,” said Kris Tufto, CEO of ISS. “Our data analytics and LPR solutions are a force-multiplier that partners next-generation technology with good old-fashioned police work to enable investigators to go from crime to conviction faster – and keep our cities safer.”

The next-generation software is specially designed to integrate with the company’s globally leading LPR solutions, including the most sophisticated fixed and mobile cameras, capable of reading hundreds of plates simultaneously. As mobile and fixed cameras retrieve images, the back office software captures license plate numbers in real time and cross-tabulates them against local and national hot-list databases. If a match is found, relevant investigators are notified immediately, along with location details. The data also can be archived temporarily in compliance with state and federal regulations for retroactive searches of vehicles connected to crime scenes or suspects.

Available in January in North America, CitySync Safety software already is helping law enforcement agencies globally solve cases from petty theft to major crimes.

In the United Kingdom, for example, investigators pinpointed the vehicle used by a pickpocket and arrested him two hours after he stole a woman’s credit card and used it in multiple locations. In another case, investigators combined license plate recognition technology, security footage from a gas station and data analysis to identify and ultimately convict a man of starting a house fire that killed three people and seriously injured two others.

The back office software will be available for on-premise and cloud-based applications. The pioneer that invented video detection and radar detection, Image Sensing Systems worked closely with a Minneapolis development company – Agosto, a Google Apps and cloud consulting firm – to bring its vision to fruition.

“The law enforcement industry is ripe for innovations like ours that will help police get results faster and more efficiently, despite tough economic conditions,” Tufto said. “We are thrilled to bring our innovative, data-driven solution to law enforcement agencies and help them quickly get the critical evidence they need to move from crime to conviction – faster.”
