Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard Runs

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard is hosting 5k and 1 mile runs on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the Jefferson County Fair Park located at 503 N. Jackson Avenue, Jefferson, Wis.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard is hosting 5k and 1 mile runs on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the Jefferson County Fair Park located at 503 N. Jackson Avenue,  Jefferson, WI.  The Sheriff Shuffle (5K) and Deputy Dash (1 mile for children) races will begin at 9 a.m.  To register visit the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard Facebook page which provides a link to www.active.com.  The cost is $20.00 if registration is completed before May 4, 2013; the cost increases to $25.00 after that date.     Participants will receive a T-shirt and grab bag for participating.  Walk-ons are welcomed however are not guaranteed a t-shirt.

The Jefferson Co. Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard will be on hand during the race as well as members of specialty teams such as Dive Team, SWAT, and the Boat Patrol.  Also in attendance will be the Jefferson High School Eagle mascot, and UW-Whitewater’s Willy Warhawk mascot. 

A portion of the proceeds will go to the Wisconsin Chapter of C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors) a national organization that provides resources to assist in the rebuilding of the lives of surviving families and affected co-workers of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. The balance of the proceeds will help fund the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard, and a future trip to Washington D.C. for National Police Week which is held every year in May to recognize all of our brothers and sisters who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
