INDIANAPOLIS
--
An Indianapolis police officer was injured in a crash during a chase late Friday night.
The chase ended after 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of 46th Street and Priscilla Avenue, 6News' Ericka Flye reported.
Police said that an officer tried to make a traffic stop at 34th Street and Boulevard Place when the driver, a 32-year-old woman from Indianapolis whose name wasn't immediately released, sped away.
The pursuit lasted for about 13 minutes, spanning seven miles, police said. The driver struck two police cruisers, slightly injuring one officer.
Police said the driver lost control of the car and slid into a tree.
"She was taken into custody. At that time, she stated that the only reason she didn't stop was because her license was suspended and she was afraid," said Sgt. Paul Thompson.
The officer was taken to a hospital complaining of shoulder pain. Police said the woman faces multiple charges.
