Well, John Timoney, now that will just solve everything won't it? Criminals and Crazies will no doubt be stymied in their efforts to procur a firearm by imposing rules and regulations such as you are intimating.

Paaaleeeaseee...

If the original post-confiscation sale was legal, and the ensuing individual-transaction sale was legal, the fact that this inanimate object can be traced to a police department is really quite irrelevant.

Gun control has nothing to do with crime
As a retired police officer and a life member of the NRA I will tell you first hand that gun control only works for the good guys not the hardened criminals. Look at NYC and DC they have the highest murder rate and hardly no civilians can legally own hand guns. The criminals do what they want and prey on the unarmed civilians.

I love how the headline reads....when I saw it my first thought was that some criminal act had occured allowing these guns to go to the suspects. Why not state guns used in incidents LEGALLY sold by Memphis agencies to gun stores. That headline would not get the response like the current one does.
