Odd title
I think a better title would be Officer hit by glass when he shoved suspect through it.

Looked to me that the suspect's right hand/arm slammed the window, FSP. Sometimes uncooperative, drunk or very agile suspects, are difficult to put on the ground - especially when you and/or them are wearing bulky clothing, thus the officer's attempt to pin him against the wall. If the officer had slammed the poor bastard to the ground you would probally complain about that too. It's a no win situation for people like you. I would love to see someone like you try to take someone into custody. It would be a comedy of errors, no doubt. I'd kick back and get a good laugh.

My question is - why would they have windows/glass that can so easily be shattered? Windows/glas like that just cry out to be vandalized.

Yeah, I always believe everything I read in the press too. That is why I will not give the press any statements and have not for the last 20 years of my career.

The youtube clip shows a violent person who is a potential danger to many people in a small enclosed area. The officer give very clear commands to get off the train, and in order to protect those passengers he immediately took control to eliminate the threat to himself and the public. I believe the officer intended to push the suspect against the wall to limit his movement when he couldnt immediately take him down. I doubt that the officer believed the window was going to shatter and cause harm to him or the suspect. So give the guy a break, if he didnt grab the suspect and the guy snapped and hit or stabbed someone on the train the complaint would be the officer was not aggressive enough. Let these cops do their jobs

Good assessment of what happened FSP. Have you ever tried placing handcuffs on an intoxicated subject? They tend to have poor balance/unsteady gait and it makes it a lot easier to have them lean against a solid object so they don't fall on their face. This officer on viewed the subject challenging passengers to a fight so it is also can be used to restrict his movements.

The officer did the right thing and handled the situation appropriately. If the glass never broke this wouldn't have even made the press. The glass breaking makes simple minded idiots like you see, as you stated, an officer shoving a suspect through glass. Its good press, huh?

I think a better title would be, "Game over, drunk man!"

Fight
Its a fact that Verbal judo works better than force. Many intoxicated persons (Keeping in mind that they are sick) can be persueded to cooperate with simple kindness and understanding.

Clearly the suspect was "resisting arrest."

Drunks
Suzy, some persons you can reason with and some people (Especially violent drunks) only understand a kick in the pants some times.

Unbelievable
Foxnews.com is reporting this as a "scandal." After watching the video, I almost truly cannot believe how ridiculous things have gotten, how far we have come.
I can't see anything questionable here at all, especially since the officer was apparently alone. What do the the critics expect from police when a maniac is violently threatening innocent people?
