Drivers in Bedford County are on high alert after a woman reported she was pulled over by a man who pretended to be a police officer.
The incident happened Saturday afternoon at a Co-Go's located at the intersecton of routes 56 and 30.
Trooper James Flanagan said the man didn't ask her for her information but said he was conducting a routine check. Then he let her go.
The impersonator is described by police as a heavy set, white man in his late 30's to early 40's. The woman said he appeared to be between 5'8" and 5'10" and had very short blonde hair.
Flanagan said if a trooper is pulling you over, you should pay attention to the lights. A marked or unmarked patrol car will typically have red, white or blue lights near the roof. Drivers should also pay attention to the uniform and whether the officer is wearing a gun belt and patches.
A similar incident happened in Somerset County in March.
A woman who works at the Sheetz in Windber, Pa. was returning home from visiting co-workers when a man followed her out of the parking lot and tried to pull her over.
State police said it's too soon to say if these two cases are related.
