OVERLAND PARK, Kan. --

A motorcyclist died after rear-ending a stopped Overland Park police car Monday night.

Overland Park police said around 8 p.m. the police car had stopped on the side of the road near 123rd Street and Blue Valley Parkway.

Police said the officer was outside the car when Jason Vaughn Chronister rear ended the patrol car and flew off his bike.

A passerby said she drove past that area a little before the accident and saw a car stopped on the shoulder, sticking out into the right lane, and man standing beside it on his cell phone.

Police would not confirm that the police car was responding to that vehicle.

Kansas Highway Patrol investigated the accident. The motorcyclist was the only person injured in the accident.

Somehow this will turn out to be the Officer's fault.

?
And the experts say if we put reflective stripes on the rear of patrol cars this wont happen. WRONG! If someone is driving with their head up their butt somehow someway they will hit something. Let me guess, the parked patrol car jumped out in front of him.
