PITSBURG, Ohio --

The Ohio State Patrol post out of Dayton is investigating a crash that involved a Darke County sheriff’s cruiser.

The collision happened around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday on State Route 49 just north of Gettysburg-Pitsburg Road near the village of Pitsburg.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the cruiser hit a deer. The investigation revealed that the deputy was apparently unconscious when the wreckage was discovered by the deputy’s supervisor.

The deputy was taken to Wayne Hospital in Greenville, where he was treated and released.
