This article
When I started to read this article it came across as though it had an agenda behind it. I was not wrong. It seems like an attempt to get the attention of those undecided about gun control, and put them on the side of the gun grabbers. The loss of innocent life is always a tragic horrible thing. The fact is that this type of crime has been happening for years and years. I am not sure how many times it has to go around and around, but the "Banning" of AK-47 style assault weapons is not going to stop senseless murders. Does anyone believe that the thugs in this article bought their weapons legally at a gun shop? I guess we had better ban kitchen knives, baseball bats, and cars for that matter. All of these object kill too many people as well. What we need is more good police work and more prosecutors and judges willing to throw the offenders away when they use a firearm in the execution of a crime.

the problem is that jail is not a deterent, only the death penalty will be. we need to stop being a society that wants to be politically correct. we ban certain types of executions because they are in-humane? yet some piece of gargbage can cut up, kill, rape or maim and thats ok? when is society and government gonna stand up for its citizens? a cold blooded murderer deserves nothing less but the same fate. Gun control is not needed. If armed citizens were around in some of these cases, maybe they could've blown away the bad guys first. Id rather be tried by 12 than carried by six.

In England and Canada, criminals stab first and ask questions later. Lets not get in a hurry to take away guns from the public. Lock up the one's who use guns to comit robberies, assaults, and murders, and leave those for mere possession and protection of life and property alone!

I agree with all of you. But New Jersy cop your right on the money. America needs to stop trying to be politicaly correct and deal with the matter as it should be. The prison population is growing because our liberals want to "Talk" with these criminals and befriend them while others are getting murdered, raped and thrown in the water to rot. Bring back the electric chair, gas chamber, and speed up death row to 1 per day, not 1 per year. Be safe brothers.

The problem with rising crime in the country is popular culture. Movies about stealing cars and running from the cops (Gone in 60 Seconds), TV shows about "pimping" your rides, music about slapping the bitches and ho's, all contribute to younger people being WAY more disrespectful than they have ever been in history. This young generation today is lost. We need to teach the generation after them to be better than their parents. Young people don't understand today.

Right on, patrol 1. If half of the law abiding citizens in the Dunkin' Donut shops were legally armed, maybe the thugs would not have the opportunity to execute them. Speaking of execute, why don't we execute these murderers instead of paying for them to work out for ten to twenty years and then letting them out to menace the public again?
Personally, I'll be keeping my AR's to defend my family against these types of individuals.

Sacrifice
Prison population is supposed to grow exponentially, just like the earths' population. The problem is prison is not a deterrent. This is the classic battle of ACLU vs Sheriff Joe. I agree with Jersey Cop to an extent falling just shy of supporting vigilanty efforts ala(C.Bronson). Bill of Rights vs Safety, we already have a dog and pony show at airport and that's a joke. How about one strike and you're out! Any felony= 10 years. Jersey boy you with me?

I am pretty sure if any of the above crimes had been commited with an "Assault Rifle" the media would have been a frenzy. Dollars to doughnuts (No pun intended) that these were all commited with a handgun YET the Chief starts going on about AK47's. I stopped reading after that. What a shame.

This is a horribly written, biased and miseading article. I am surprised to even be reading it here. Blaming an inanimate object as the cause of crime? That's simply idiotic.

I love this Country and believe in the Constitution. So let me say...The 2nd amendment is about "sporting purposes".
