NASHUA, N.H. --

A Nashua police officer was struck by a car during a traffic stop Friday on the Everett Turnpike, forcing the northbound lanes to be closed.

Officer Vincent Curtis had stopped a car for speeding just after exit 7 in Nashua and was walking back to his cruiser when a BMW struck Curtis' cruiser and then Curtis and the vehicle he had stopped, police said.

Curtis was knocked into the breakdown lane, and the BMW spun across the roadway, coming to rest in the left lane. Curtis and the driver of the BMW, Susan Ngo, 54, of Nashua, were taken to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.

Curtis was treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening and was expected to be released. Ngo was taken in for observation and did not appear to have received any injuries. The driver of the Acura that Curtis stopped was not injured.

The crash stopped traffic on the turnpike while emergency crews responded to the scene.

Police said alcohol and drugs did not appear to be factors in the crash. State police are investigating.
