Driver Slams Into Back of Missouri Highway Patrol Trooper's Cruiser

A Missouri Highway Patrol officer was injured when a pickup truck hit the back of his patrol car on Interstate 44 Saturday.

ST. LOUIS -- A Missouri Highway Patrol officer was injured when a pickup truck hit the back of his patrol car on Interstate 44 Saturday.

The trooper's patrol car was stopped, with its emergency lights on, behind a stalled motorist in a lane of the highway when a pickup truck slammed into the back of the car, injuring the trooper, the patrol said.

The crash happened at 1:20 p.m. Saturday on westbound Interstate 44 east of Six Flags Road.

The injured trooper was Tycee M. Williams, 40, of Weldon Spring; he was taken to Mercy Hospital St. Louis with minor injuries, according to the report.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the driver of the pickup truck was Scott A. Carnell, 35, of Pacific; he was not injured.
