NYPD Detective Seriously Injured After Being Struck by Minivan

A New York City police detective was seriously injured after being struck by a minivan Sunday night.

A New York City police detective was seriously injured after being struck by a minivan Sunday night.

The NYPD detective was hit by the vehicle near the intersection of Richmond Avenue and Akron Street in Staten Island around 8:50 p.m., according to The Staten Island Advance.

The officer was transported to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton for treatment of her injuries including head trauma and is expected to recover.

The driver of the minivan remained on the scene of the crash and no charges had been filed as of 11 p.m. Sunday night.

The incident is currently under investigation.
