An Adams County, Colorado Sheriff's K-9 rescued a deputy who was fighting with a suspect.

K-9 Lex and his handler responded to a trespassing call in the Shaw Heights neighborhood in the area of 4700 West 89th Place around 1 a.m. on Aug. 5 when the incident occurred, according to KCNC-TV.

As the deputy spoke to a man officials identified as Gabriel Steven Garcia, the man jumped a fence to get away. As the deputy chased after him, he became separated from his K-9, and began fighting with the suspect.

Lex is a 3-year-old Belgian Malinois who has been with the department since February 2015 and is a certified narcotics and police patrol dog with the Colorado Police Canine Association and National Police Canine Association.
