FLINT, Michigan -- A Bishop International Airport police officer stabbed in the neck during a terrorist attack last week has been released from the hospital.
Lt. Jeff Neville, whom doctors said was within a few millimeters away from losing his life, was discharged on Monday from Hurley Medical Center, according to The Detroit News.
Amor M. Ftouhi, a 49-year-old Tunisian national with dual citizenship in Canada, repeatedly stabbed the officer with a 12-inch knife while allegedly yelling "Allahu Akbar" during the attack at the airport.
Neville fought off the attacker as other officers subdued him. Ftouhi remains in federal custody on a charge of violence at an international airport and is due to return to court in Flint this week.
During a news conference last week, doctors said Neville's recovery is expected to last about eight weeks.
