Arizona Police Officer Stabbed; Suspect Dead

A Tempe police officer was stabbed and the suspected attacker was shot dead by police.

A Tempe, Arizona police officer was stabbed and the suspected attacker was shot dead by police Tuesday morning.

The attack occurred after an officer attempted to talk with the man after his coupe crashed into a vehicle parked on the side of the road in the 500 block of East Wesleyan Drive around 6 a.m., according to The Arizona Republic.

Sgt. Josie Montenegro said that the 19-year veteran of the force became involved in a struggle with the man and was stabbed.

The 25-year-old suspect was shot by responding officers and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The wounded officer was transported to a hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

The incident is currently under investigation.
