A suspect accused of shooting a Louisville police officer in the chest the night of June 11 was taken into custody in Florida Thursday afternoon.
The U.S. Marshals Service had received a tip that 22-year-old Jacquan Lamont Crowley could be in Volusia County and responded with sheriff's investigator to his sister's apartment, according to The Courier-Journal.
Volusia County Sheriff's spokesman Gary Davidson said that Crowley didn't put up a fight after he was surrounded shortly before 4 p.m. at the Sunrise Pointe Apartments in Port Orange.
Crowley is being held without bond at the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach pending extradition back to Kentucky. Police have obtained a warrant charging Crowley with attempted murder of a police officer. He also faces charges in a host of outstanding active warrants.
Crowley allegedly shot Officer Kyle Carroll during a foot chase Saturday night, when a bullet penetrated a ballistic vest worn by by the officer and entered his chest near his badge.
Carroll was rushed to the University of Louisville Hospital, where doctors were able to remove the bullet. He has since been released and is at home recovering.
