Wounded Ore. Officer Expected to Survive

A Fairview police officer was shot and wounded by a suspect who fled a crash Wednesday night.

A Fairview, Oregon police officer is expected to survive after he was shot late Wednesday night.

The officer, who is a member East Metro Gang Enforcement Team, was riding with a Gresham police officer as they responded to a vehicle crash near Southeast 188th and East Burnside shortly before 11 p.m., according to KOIN-TV.

The two officers located the driver who fled the scene in the 18900 block of Northeast Couch.

A radio call indicating they located the suspect was quickly followed by 'shots fired' and then 'officer hit.'

The wounded police officer was taken to a local trauma hospital in Portland and is expected to survived his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle that crashed and fled was also shot and transported to a separate trauma hospital.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
