Officers in Norwalk, Iowa apprehended a wayward kangaroo Tuesday night.

Police recieved a call of a stray kangaroo wandering around the city around 10:40 p.m., according to Des Moines Register.

The animal was captured and transported to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

Officer Greg Bryant, who responded to the call, said it took about half an hour to catch the animal. Two men and a woman who originally saw the kangaroo and called police helped Bryant catch it.

"We had it cornered at one point, and then it got through us, and it was jumping up and down North Avenue," Bryant said.

Bryant eventually blocked an alley with his patrol car to corner the kangaroo, the civilians assisted him in catching it and place it in a metal dog kennel.

The kangaroo, which is about 3 feet tall and about 30 to 40 lbs, is owned by a man who told police he had originally intended to keep the kangaroo and train it as a pet in a rural area, but was unable to keep it there and has kept it in pen in Norwalk until he could sell it online.

An ad on Craigslist -- which says it was posted 10 days ago -- lists the kangaroo for sale for $4,500 or best offer.

The man told police that the kangaroo has been sold and will soon be moving to Nebraska.
