Tennessee Park Ranger Succumbs to Injuries

Park Ranger Jimmy Wallen sustained a traumatic brain injury sustained in an on-duty crash in 1989.

A park ranger with the Hamilton County Parks and Recreation Department in Tennessee succumbed to injuries sustained in an on-duty crash 26 years ago.

Park Ranger Jimmy Wallen, 54, died on Oct. 25 from complications of a traumatic brain injury sustained in a crash in 1989.

Wallen was in a patrol car with his partner when they were struck by another vehicle on Amnicola Highway as they pulled out of Hamilton County Riverpark.

Emergency personnel resuscitated Wallen at the scene before transporting him to a local hospital.

The park ranger remained in nursing care at The Health Center at Standifer Place until his death at the age of 54.

Wallen is survived by his wife, Patricia Wilson Wallen; mother, Gloria Wallen; brothers, John Wallen and Matthew Wallen and sister, Mary Henley.

Funeral services were held on Oct. 29, in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Bill Mason officiating. Burial followed at Hooker Cemetery in Hooker, Georgia.
