A Wright County, Minnesota Sheriff's deputy who works as a bailiff was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated at the courthouse Monday.
Deputy Craig Canton was confronted by a Buffalo police officer after he drove his personal vehicle to the Wright County Courthouse around 9:15 a.m., according to KSTP-TV.
Buffalo Police Chief Pat Budke said that officers received a call from a sheriff's office employee that Canton may have driven to work drunk.
Canton failed a field sobriety test and was booked into Wright County Jail.
Wright County Sheriff Joe Hagerty told the news station that Canton has worked for the sheriff's office for 11 years with no problems.
"We hire from the human race and sometimes we have to deal with human issues," he said.
The 55-year-old Canton is has been placed on leave and the case has been sent to City Attorney Randi Sutter, who will decide how to proceed.
