Mich. Trooper Critical After Being Struck

Motorcycle Trooper Chad Wolf was struck and dragged by a vehicle towing a trailer Friday.

A Michigan State Police motorcycle trooper was critically injured after he was struck by a vehicle Friday morning.

Trooper Chad Wolf was struck by a vehicle towing a trailer that made a lane change on I-75 near Dixie Highway in northern Oakland County, according to WXYZ-TV.

Officials said the driver, a 72-year-old man, proceeded to drag the officer for several miles before pulling over at the Davisburg Reast Stop in Springfield Township.

Wolf was found unresponsive near the rest stop by his partner before being transported to Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc where he was listed in critical condition.

He joined the department in 2008 and has has served at the Jackson, Flint and Metro posts.

Wolf is both a husband and a father.

"We ask that you please keep Trooper Wolf and his family in your thoughts and prayers," Col. Kriste Kibbey Etue said in a statement.

The driver is cooperating with authorities and the incident is still under investigation.
