Trooper Sean Duckers was one of the first on the scene after the driver lost control of his Infiniti G-37 and hit several trees on I-275 in St. Petersburg, according to WFLA-TV.

"I ran up to it and just kind of hoped it wouldn't explode while I was there," Duckers told the news station.

Duckers tried to open the door, but it was locked and a window punch tool he attempted to use did not work.

"That's when the fire got real close, and I could feel it on my face," he said. "I just swung my right hand, my knuckle hit it, caused a little hole in it."

Duckers used his left hand to punch out the passenger window and gained access to Michael Brewer, who was slumped over and was unconscious. The trooper and a civilian dragged the man to safety.

"You like to say no, like you don't want to be called a hero, but everybody likes it," he said. "Ya know, everybody wants to be Superman. I'm not gonna lie to you."

Duckers suffered cuts to his fingers and arm in the rescue. The Brewer is expected to survive.
