Feb. 10, 2015
Okaloosa County Deputies Joseph Trimboli and Eric Keyes rescued a man on Christmas Day.

The Okaloosa County, Fla. Sheriff's Office released a video of two deputies pulling a motorist from a fiery wreck on Christmas Day last year.

Deputies Joseph Trimboli and Eric Keyes responded to a crash on Main Street in Destin and found heavy flames coming from the rear of the vehicle, according to The Space Coast Daily.

The flames were spreading to the inside and a 45-year-old man was incoherent behind the wheel of the locked car.

Keyes broke out the car's window with his flashlight as the flames continued to spread. The victim's clothes were already on fire and the car was becoming fully engulfed.

Keyes and Trimboli pulled the man out of the car through the broken window and out to safety.

Officials said the victim was treated for minor burns and smoke inhalation and later expressed his gratitude for the deputy's heroic efforts.

In recognition of their actions, Trimboli and Keyes were awarded with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Medal of Merit.

The cause of the fire was not released.
