Texas Sheriff's K-9 Slain; Suspect Dead

Wise County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Pepper and a suspect died after a chase on Wednesday.

A Wise County Sheriff’s Office K-9 and a man died after a chase near Highway 101, southwest of Bowie, in Montague County.

According to investigators, the chase began after the man refused to pull over for authorities. He eventually stopped his car and fled on foot.

Pepper, a K-9 officer, was bought to the scene and located the man, said Tony Fulton, a trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

A deputy opened fire and killed the man after the man fatally shot the dog, Fulton said.
