NYPD Officer Pays Woman's Impound Bill

Officer Brian Kinkaid helped the elderly woman after her car was towed outside a hospital.

A NYPD officer dipped into his own pockets to help out an elderly woman last week.

Officer Brian Kinkaid paid the impound fee for a woman whose illegally parked car was towed outside New York Hospital Queens on Dec. 2, according to The Daily News.

The officer gave the unidentified senior a lift to the Queens depot in College Point at the beginning of his patrol. Unfortunately, the woman only had her checkbook on her. The city's impound lots only accept cash, credit or money order.

After noticing a nearby ATM, the six-year veteran offered to help.

"I had my debit card, so I told her I'd take out the money and help," he said. “I would hope anyone would do the same."

The officer covered the $185 fee, plus the $3 ATM fee.

While Kinkaid hasn't heard from the woman, he's not too worried about being reimbursed.

"She was very grateful. I said, 'Whenever you get the chance, you can drop it off at the precinct.' "
