A four-hour Roseville standoff involving a fugitive convicted felon who barricaded himself in a basement bedroom Thursday afternoon ended when the suspect charged police and was shot once with a non-lethal rubber bullet.

Police took Geoffrey Adam McCloskey, 33, into custody around 4:30 p.m. after they drove him out of his hiding spot with tear gas and he charged officers.

Officers had responded to the house on the 2100 block of Rice Street just after 12:30 p.m. on a report that McCloskey was at the residence, according to Roseville police Lt. Lorne Rosand.

McCloskey, 33, was wanted in Hennepin and Ramsey counties for fleeing police officers and is also a suspected gang member, Rosand said.

As police entered the home, McCloskey reportedly retreated to a bedroom on the lower level and refused to come out, Rosand said.

SWAT members were called in, a portion of the Roseville neighborhood was blocked off, and traffic around Rice Street and County Road B was diverted during the efforts to take McCloskey into custody. He was taken by ambulance to Regions Hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening wound and was to be later transported to the Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center.

McCloskey's criminal history includes second-degree-assault with a dangerous weapon, third-degree burglary, criminal damage to property, giving a false name to police, disorderly conduct, fifth-degree drug possession and violating conditions of his parole as a predatory offender.
