A man already behind bars in another case is now accused in a decade-old homicide in Texas.

A man already behind bars in another case is now accused in a decade-old homicide in west Harris County, authorities said Thursday.

Allen Eugene, 32, is accused of fatally shooting Richard Sepulveda in July 2004 outside a shopping center in the 6200 block of Highway 6, Harris County sheriff's deputies said.

The two men had been arguing over a parking spot when Eugene pulled a gun and opened fire as Sepulveda was trying to drive away, authorities said.

Sepulveda was 44 at the time of his death.

Eugene was identified as a suspect during the initial investigation, but denied any involvement in the fatal shooting and wasn't charged.

Sepulveda's family in 2013 contacted detectives with the sheriff's cold case unit and asked them to take a fresh look at the shooting.

They conducted another investigation and questioned Eugene, by then being held on an unrelated charge at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice's Estelle Unit in Huntsville.

Sheriff's detectives said Eugene admitted shooting Sepulveda and also confessed to another shooting in 2004.

Eugene, an admitted gang member, will be transferred from TDCJ to the Harris County Jail in connection with the murder charge.
